Time is flying at the speed of light it seems at times. It's been a while since I have updated the blog. Here it is already February and we are down to about one month left here in Mission, Texas. We decided to never do another Work camp gig again even if it saves us loads of $$$$. Not that the work we were assigned to do is hard, but it interferes with the total freedom one enjoys when retired. Actually we are finding it difficult to accomplish 24 hours of work between the two of us. We been averaging anywhere from 5 to 8 hours per week total due to the lack of work. The park doesn't really seem to be concerned with the lack of hours, for the time we do work results in total quality results.
The food is outstanding here and we are having to work out to maintain our weight. Doris and I hit the gym for 2-2.5 hours three days a week. In addition to that, Doris does Powerwalk and Yoga five days a week along with a 1-4 mile Tequila dog walk every day. She is doing more in the exercise arena than I. I find time to tweak in any issues with the RV.
Getting custom sunscreens made for the unit. The last time we were in Arizona, we receive a quote over $1200.00 for a full set of custom sunscreens. Here in south Texas it will cost us $407.00 for a full set with Premium material. The window screens will cut the heat transfer through the windows 10% of more. There are some awesome flea markets here with everything available under the sun!
We have made it to Progresso Mexico several times so far. There is so much to buy at low prices there. Dental is so cheap! $30.00 for the best teeth cleaning using the latest in equipment. Massages $25 dollars for 1/2 hour, $12 dollars for a pedicure, $6.00 for a manicure, and $6 dollars for a haircut. Liquor prices dirt cheap (good thing neither one of us drinks).

Beggars under the bridge that crosses the Rio Grande |
The park we are staying at mainly caters to the French Canadians. The park is approximately 85% French Canadians and the rest Americans. Most of the Workcampers are Americans. They love to play Shuffleboard, Petanque, card games, and dance. Very interesting folks. We have met a number of characters here and enjoying our stay.
Looking forward to heading west again. I know Doris is wanting to hike. One thing about this part of Texas is that it is flat. No mountains. Starting to get hot, and the winds makes it way here on a daily occasion.
Until the next update! Ya'll have a great one!
